we were drinking wine in the back of my delivery truck it was strictly spo-dee-p.o.d. told her i used to be a roadie but she wasn't listening to me in the light she looked faintly kandinsky or maybe paul klee she told me freedom's just another word for overnight delivery working overnight delivery no tracking number no guarantee put in the two way mirror so we can "c" her o.d. well the night wore on and the drugs wore off and she was wearing less and less that girl from x was singing about a kiss and about a mess then the makeout led to crashout we were damned but we were blessed well the prose got as purple as the bruise over her heart i put the pedal to the metal she put the squeeze on the spark and nobody ever believes this part but we watched the prince of peace rise over the rooftop of paisley park you know i feel like kit carruthers every time the weather gets this stark when the softball team came in they shot us looks then bought us shots i think some of them might have fought it was bright as hell outside and hot as heaven in there i told her i never wanted to leave that bar the bartender was blasting open arms
